The 1961 San Diego State Aztecs football team was an American football team that represented San Diego State College (now known as San Diego State University as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association during the 1961 college football season. In their first year under head coach Don Coryell, the Aztecs compiled a 7–2–1 record, tied for third place in the CCAA, and outscored opponents by a total of 231 to 154.
