On 22 April 1972, Poon Sai Im, a 58-year-old provisions shop owner who lived on the island of Pulau Ubin, Singapore, was robbed and killed by two men, who had initially intended to rob her. When one of Poon's attackers searched for valuables, the other attacker, 19-year-old Mohamed Yasin bin Hussin, alias Rosli, raped the victim. Prior to raping the victim, Yasin sat on the victim, resulting in rib fractures leading to cardiac arrest and led to the victim's death. Both men were eventually arrested nine months after the case and tried for murder.
