The 1990 FIBA World Championship for Women was the 11th FIBA World Championship for Women. The tournament was hosted by Malaysia, from 12 to 22 July 1990. It was the first edition of the tournament to raise the number of participating teams to 16; prior editions had seen between 8 and 14 teams competing, but this and future editions would include 16. The United States won their fifth world championship, defeating Yugoslavia 88–78 in the final.
