Incumbent Republican comptroller Susan Combs retired and did not seek a third term in office. State senator Glenn Hegar emerged as the winner of a crowded Republican primary, while businessman Mike Collier won the Democratic nomination unopposed. Hegar won the general election in a landslide, earning 58% of the vote to Collier's 38%.
