From 23 September 2015 to February 2016, India imposed an unofficial blockade, supported by Nepal's Madheshi people, as a protest against changes to Nepal's constitution. Many of Nepal's Madheshi people hail from India, and the Nepalese government accused India of provoking the blockade, which the Indian government denied.
