Alexander Stewart Herschel, DCL, FRS was a British astronomer. He was the son of John Herschel and the grandson of William Herschel. He carried out pioneering work in meteor spectroscopy, and worked on identifying comets as the source of meteor showers. The Herschel graph, the smallest non-Hamiltonian polyhedral graph, is named after him due to his pioneering work on William Rowan Hamilton's Icosian game.
