Haim Arlosoroff was assassinated on the night of Friday, June 16, 1933, as the left-wing Zionist leader was walking with his wife on the beach in Jaffa, Mandatory Palestine. The assassination was initially believed to be carried out by his right-wing political enemies; the subsequent court case ended in acquittal for the two accused of the crime. The conviction and death sentence of a third accused was overturned on appeal to the Palestine Court of Appeal. The case has never been definitively solved.
