The Canadian Television Fund formerly the Canada Television and Cable Production Fund, and sometimes abbreviated as CTF, was established to increase the quality and quantity of distinctly Canadian television programming available to Canadian audiences. As a public–private partnership supported through contributions from the Government of Canada and from the Canadian cable and direct‑to‑home satellite industries, the CTF assisted in the production of Canadian programming in English, French, and Aboriginal languages in key genres such as drama, children’s and youth, documentary, variety, and performing arts.
