Carmen del Paraná is a town in the Itapúa Department of Paraguay. It is located in the southern part of the country, about 300 kilometers from the capital, Asunción. It was founded on April 24, 1843 by decree of Carlos Antonio López and Mariano Roque Alonso. The inhabitants mainly work in the agriculture and livestock industries, with extensive plantations of rice, soybeans and wheat.
