For brevity, it is often referred to as simply the Monterey Institute. The cofounders of the institute were Gaspard Etienne Weiss, Louise Weiss, Dwight Morrow Jr., Remsen Dubois Bird, Enid Hamilton-Fellows, Countess of Kinnoull, Sybil Fearnley, Noël Sullivan, and Frank Elton. The institute offers master's degree programs and certificates.
