After World War II, both the Federal Republic and Democratic Republic of Germany were obliged to pay war reparations to the Allied governments, according to the Potsdam Conference. Italian, Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian and Finnish reparations were determined in Paris Peace Treaties. Austria was not included in any of these treaties. Japan's reparations were determined in Treaty of San Francisco.
