IRIS Dena (75) was a Moudge-class frigate in the Southern Fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. It is named after Mount Dena, and was commissioned into the navy in 2021. On 4 March 2026, during the 2026 Iran war, she was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine of the United States Navy in international waters near the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Dena was the first ship to be sunk in active combat by a submarine since 1982, when the Argentine Navy cruiser ARA General Belgrano, was sunk by torpedoes from the Royal Navy nuclear submarine HMS Conqueror (S48) during the Falklands War; and the first ship to be sunk by an American submarine since the Pacific theater of World War II.
