Like its predecessors in the Splatoon series, the game consists of online multiplayer alongside a single-player story campaign, both featuring combat based around ink-firing weapons. A single-player downloadable content (DLC) expansion titled Side Order was released on 22 February 2024 as the second half of the paid Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass.
